WASIM AKRAM . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

As you know Waseem Akram The king of swing and fast bowling. He has a superb record in the world of cricket through out the world. He made a lot of world records and also won the world series cup in the history of paksitan cricket. He is the second finest captain of pakistan after great imran khan.
One of the greatest left-arm bowlers in the history of world cricket, Wasim has been playing for Pakistan for more than 16 years. The 36-year-old may not be as young as he once was, but he is still a world-class all-rounder and the one-day game suits his explosive attributes. He is probably the foremost exponent of reverse swing and can still produce the unplayable ball and generate surprising pace off an economical run-up. With nearly 500 one-day wickets Wasim remains a fearsome opponent with the ball. His batting has been somewhat subdued of late, and although he cannot be relied upon to produce a big innings he is more than capable of a flashing cameo.
Wasim made his World Cup debut in 1987 and was a member of the team which lifted the trophy five years later. This will be his fifth and final tournament as the former captain has already announced his intention to retire after the World Cup.He won pakistan a lot of matches not by his amazing bowling but his smashing batting also.an English teacher at a community college in Columbus, Ohio, I try to reserve time, particularly during the summer, for traveling and photography, which are my passions.

Legend Saeed Anwar

Born: 6/9/68
Team: United Bank
ODI debut: 1/1/89
Past World Cups: 1996, 1999
Left-handed batsman
Left-arm slow orthodox bowler

A world-class opener, Anwar is one of the real batting stars of Pakistani cricket. The left-hander exudes class and has a reputation in the cricketing world as one of the best timers of the ball, fond of elegantly driving through the covers or mid-on. Although he took some time to establish himself in the Test side, Anwar's attacking style of play made him a natural choice for one-day internationals from the start. He still holds the record for the highest individual score in a one-day innings with 194 against India in 1997, and has scored 19 centuries and 43 fifties since his debut in 1989. Anwar has suffered from nagging injury problems in recent years and will be hoping to return to form for his third World Cup. Many will also notice a radical change in his appearance as the 34-year-old now sports a long beard, having become a devout Muslim after his daughter died following a brief illness.

SHAHID AFRIDI

Born: 1/3/80
Team: Habib Bank
ODI debut: 2/10/96
Past World Cups: 1999
Right-handed batsman
Right-arm leg break googly bowler

A flamboyant all-rounder, Afridi is one of many talented Pakistani players who have yet to live up to their country's high expectations. This was not helped by the young right-hander's explosive debut against Sri Lanka in the 1996/97 season. Brought into international cricket as a 16-year-old leg-spinner, he surprised everyone but himself by pinch-hitting the fastest one-day hundred in his maiden innings. His two centuries as an opening and late middle-order batsman in one-day cricket since then have disappointed some. However, Afridi is still a compulsive shot-maker and, as a bowler, his leg-spinners, characterised by a hasty approach to the bowling crease, are often under-rated. No doubt, the man with reputedly the firmest handshake in international cricket is relishing the chance of proving his critics wrong.

WAQAR YOUNAS

Born: 16/11/71
Team: United Bank
ODI debut: 14/10/89
Past World Cups: 1996, 1999
Right-arm fast bowler
Right-handed batsman

Nicknamed the "Burewala Express" after his hometown in Pakistan, captain Waqar has earned a reputation as one of the most feared fast bowlers in recent cricketing history. A devastating late inswing adds the final touches to a fast and full bowling style that leaves batsmen more worried about protecting their toes than their heads. Despite an innocuous debut against India in 1989, "Wiki" as he is known, stormed to international recognition the following year with his amazing performances at the Sharjah Stadium. Waqar broke all sorts of records on his rise to the top, including becoming the youngest player to reach 200 Test wickets and the fastest player to reach 200 one-day wickets. Time and injuries have taken their toll on his speed, but he remains a lethal paceman, with an average of under 25 and best figures of 7-36 against England in 2001. Like many Pakistan captains before him, Waqar has also weathered mixed fortunes since his appointment in 2001.

SAQLAIN MUSHTAQ

Born: 29/12/76
Teams: Surrey, Pakistan International Airlines
ODI debut: 29/9/95
Past World Cups: 1996, 1999
Right-arm off-break bowler
Right-handed batsman.

A magician for Surrey, Saqlain is a spin wizard and, with Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne, one of the foremost exponents of the art in the world. Some have seen him as a revolution in the art of attacking off-spin bowling, reintroducing the need for off-spinners in the one-day game. His international debut came against Sri Lanka in 1995, but it was not until 1996/97 that Saqlain really earned world notoriety with five-wicket hauls against Australia and New Zealand. His ability to bowl mystery balls, which turn the other way and puzzle the batsmen completely, has led to records tumbling. Saqlain is the fastest bowler to reach 100 one-day wickets and belongs to an elite category of spin bowlers who have claimed hat-tricks in one-day cricket on not one, but two occasions - both against Zimbabwe. It is a credit to his control that he regularly bowls at the death and, as a batsman, he has earned a reputation as a useful tail-ender.
